Documents

Level recognition is requested by the holder of the foreign higher education qualifications, or by a legal representative, by completing the online form, attaching the following documents in digital format:

 

• Copy of the diploma or document issued by the foreign higher education institution proving ownership of the degree or diploma for which recognition is required, authenticated by the competent authorities for this purpose and recognised by the local Portuguese consular agent, or legalised by the apostille system under the Hague Convention;

Or/

• Non-certified copy of a document issued by the foreign higher education institution with a degree or diploma registration number, in the case of foreign higher education institutions that have centralised records that can be consulted by a unique identifier, authenticated by the competent authorities for the effect and recognised by the local Portuguese consular agent, or legalised by the apostille system under the Hague Convention;

Or/

• Original version of a document issued by the foreign higher education institution with a degree or diploma registration number, in the case of foreign higher education institutions that have centralised records that can be consulted by a unique identifier, authenticated by the competent authorities for the effect and recognised by the local Portuguese consular agent, or legalised by the apostille system under the Hague Convention;

Diplomas written in a foreign language other than Spanish, French and English must be accompanied by a translation into Portuguese, duly certified by the competent authorities for that purpose. The certification referred to focuses on the content of the translation and not only on the signatures of those involved in the acts in question

 

AND/

• Document issued by the foreign higher education institution containing the curricular units in which the applicant obtained a pass, and which led to them obtaining the degree or diploma for which they are applying for recognition, as well as the respective syllabus, duration of studies leading to obtaining the degree and the respective final classification, authenticated by the competent authorities for the purpose and recognised by the local Portuguese consular agent, or legalised by the apostille system under the terms of the Hague Convention;

AND/

• Whenever a final classification is required on the Portuguese classification scale, the applicant must present the document(s) issued by the foreign higher education institution with an indication of the final classification awarded to the academic degree or diploma for which recognition is required and the final foreign classification scale with a minimum classification corresponding to a pass on that scale and maximum classification, authenticated by the competent authorities for the purpose and recognised by the local Portuguese consular agent, or legalised by the apostille system under the terms the Hague Convention;

AND/

• When it comes to a degree corresponding to a master's level, a scanned copy of the defended dissertation, or project, or internship report, stamped and signed by the institution awarding the degree, authenticated by the competent authorities for the purpose and recognised by the local Portuguese consular agent or legalised by the apostille system under the Hague Convention.

 

The documents provided for herein are subject to deposit in the Common Repository of the Open Access Scientific Repository of Portugal, operated by the Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P., so if recognition is granted, the applicant will be asked for their Consent to Deposit in the Scientific Repository of ESEL (RESEL).

 

The delivery of a translation into Portuguese, duly certified by the competent authorities for the purpose, of the defended dissertation, or project, or internship report, which may be written in any foreign language, may be requested.
